I’ve always loved winter. I truly welcomed the arrival of winter with excitement, curiosity, and impatience. Because winter, for me, was a time of endings, yet full of surprises and the beginning of something new. Although this season often symbolizes endings, I’ve always thought it also accumulates a powerful energy. Maybe it’s because I’m a winter child. But perhaps it’s because I love feeling the warm serenity that winter brings, as much as the cold.
In winter, I always found something inspiring. The snowfall, the colors it gives to the sky and the earth, the unique shapes of snowflakes, or the birds’ busy migration preparations and their chirping just before the cold fully sets in. I love all of these so much. For example, the sound of our footsteps, the only sound in the silence while walking in the snow, the joyful voices of children playing outside when the snow blankets everything like a white cover, and the quiet that remains after. All of these always give my soul a unique sense of peace.
This period is also a time when we can be closer to ourselves and our loved ones at home, a time when we can warm up together, share more, and experience the joy of being together. Isn’t this season, with its unique shades of white that reflect the sun’s rays and contain many colors, a time we can spend more peacefully, a little slower, but much more meaningfully?
Additionally, I’ve always been excited by the fact that winter opens a door to the new year. It has almost become a habit for me to reflect my creative side more during this season and make preparations for a new start in the coming year as the year draws to a close. I believe this is related to the revitalizing contribution that winter gives me. Yes, winter is a season where I choose to focus on painting, dedicating time to myself and my ideas, thinking more calmly, deeply, and constructively about things that need to be considered, and embracing my creative side even more. And for all these reasons, I love winter.
Winter is one of the most interesting times of the year for me, as it shows us that while we say goodbye to some things, we can also say “hello” to new ones. What do you think about this? How do you feel about winter and the connection you have with it? Does it inspire you about parts of your life or your personality? Is it a time when you reconnect with yourself, focus on your work in peace and serenity? Or do you associate winter with cold, darkness, and endings? If your thoughts and feelings are more aligned with the second one, I would like to remind you that every ending is a new beginning. And winter is the season that shows this to us in all its splendor. At least, that’s what I believe, and I want to encourage you to be more optimistic.
5 Easy Ways to Warm Your Heart in Winter:
1) Read
Maybe you’re reading this article in a cozy corner, with a cup of tea or coffee by your side. If that’s the case, then this article is already fulfilling its purpose. Because on a cold winter day, in your favorite spot, reading a novel, a personal development book, or a blog post about winter will do wonders for you.
2) Make a Plan for a New Start
Isn’t it great to take the first step toward bringing a new plan to life just as the year’s final days approach?
For example, you’ve always wanted to try pottery, you have beautiful ideas, but you’ve kept postponing joining that course. Now is the time to stop postponing. Make a plan where you set aside time and budget for this new hobby you’ve always wanted. When will you start the course? How long will it last? What’s the cost of the first equipment and course fees? Where’s the nearest course to you? And set a sweet goal: by the end of the course, you could continue working on your creations or design special pottery gifts for your loved ones.
3) Spend Time with Your Loved Ones
I’m sure you would enjoy spending time with your loved ones at home on a cold winter day. Let’s come up with some activity ideas you can do together.
If you like cooking, you can encourage your family members to cook together with you. Although it might be difficult alone, choosing a dish that can be made easily with teamwork and preparing it together will make the food even more delicious.
Choose a game to play together and forget about time.
Host a fun karaoke night. Don’t forget to offer vocal support to each other in the songs. 🙂
Create stories where every family member improvises and contributes in turn, and record them as audio files. They will be wonderful memories.
4) Make Changes to Your Home
I hope reading all of this has inspired you to make small changes in your home that add color, a reflection of the warm season, contrary to the cold, colorless winter landscape outside. If you’ve been waiting, now is the time for small, revitalizing changes that won’t be exhausting. Maybe a poster on your wall or new pillow covers will bring a warm atmosphere to your home.
